The average result of a decision if you made it many times. EV for short.

Risk 10 to win 30, and win one time in three: on average you make about 3.3 per try.

pot odds The price of a call: your call ÷ everything in the middle once you call.
equity Your share of the pot if every card were dealt out: how often your hand wins from here.
