Blinds

Two forced bets posted before the cards are dealt, so every pot has something in it to win.

Example

In a 1/2 game, the small blind posts 1 and the big blind posts 2.

small blind The smaller forced bet, posted by the player just left of the button.
big blind The bigger forced bet, posted two seats left of the button. Bets are often counted in big blinds.
button A disc that marks the dealer’s seat.
