Why it is famous
Tom Dwan called an all in on the river with a single pair of queens, after nearly four minutes, and won a pot of about $3.1 million, the biggest in the show’s history.

The decisions
- Dwan. Against four raises, queens are behind aces and kings, a small favourite over ace-king, and far ahead of the bluffs. Calling keeps the bluffs in and avoids stacking off against aces.
- Dwan. Queens are ahead of ace-king and every bluff; only aces, kings and an eight beat them. A raise would only get called by those.
- Dwan. Fei’s line also fits ace-king that missed everything: with the ace of diamonds it had only a backdoor flush draw. Queens beat that and every other bluff. Dwan called after nearly four minutes, and his queens won.
What the sources do not say. The seats are not documented. Fei is shown on the button and Dwan in the big blind, which fits Dwan acting first after the flop. A straddle seat for Dwan would fit too. The suit of Fei’s king is disputed (spades in one report, hearts in another). It changes nothing. Dwan’s $2,000 straddle is uncertain, and the pot is reported as $3,081,000 or $3.1 million. No pot figures are shown. Fei’s stack is reported only as roughly $2.8 million, and the size of his all in is not shown. The date is 30 or 31 May.
