Diaz vs Farnes
World Series of Poker, Main Event, 2022. Day 7, fourteen players left.
Fourteen players left in the 2022 Main Event
Why it is famous
David Diaz thought for about six minutes and folded queens full of deuces to a river raise from the chip leader. PokerNews called it "a fold for the ages". The fold was worth $115,000 in prize money: he went out soon after in 13th place instead of 14th.

The decisions
- Diaz. Diaz has trips, and leading builds the pot against kings, top pair or draws.
- Diaz. Queens full is near the top of the deck. Betting gets paid by any king and by two pair.
- Farnes. He holds the second-best hand possible: only four deuces beat kings full. With the chip lead, raising for everything charges Diaz for calling.
- Diaz. Farnes only called on the flop and the turn, then raised the river for everything with fourteen players left. That fits kings full, king-queen or four deuces, and all three beat queens full of deuces. Any weaker hand would just call. Diaz folded. He was right: kings full beat him.
What the sources do not say. The sizes before the river come from one outlet. The river bets are confirmed by two. The ante is not documented, so the pot is not shown and prices are given in words. The table size is not documented. Only the players in the hand are drawn.
